Micro-needling is a procedure that uses tiny, sterilised needles to prickle the skin on your body and cause tiny wounds. These very small cuts trigger the natural healing process of the body so that it starts producing collagen and elastin, both designed to heal the body and both reduce wrinkles and create a more youthful look. As the wounds heal, the skin becomes smoother and more youthful looking.

Before the treatment begins, a specialist will have a consultation with you. We will ask some questions about your medical history and understand what you want to achieve from visiting our clinic. We will then analyse your face and bone structure and design a personalised treatment plan for you. During this consultation we will explain the whole process and answer any questions you have.
We use a local anaesthetic to ensure the treatment is as painless and comfortable as possible. A micro-needling device which includes small, sterilised needles in a pen shaped casing, will be used to treat the required areas. As the device moves it makes small cuts into the skin which can cause some bleeding. These cuts prompt the body to start the healing process so that in the areas where the cuts are made, the body is producing elastin and collagen.
Due to the way the treatment works, the results are not instantaneous, you need to give the body time to produce the collagen and elastin it needs. In some cases, people do require more than one treatment before they really begin to see the benefits of this treatment. You can have this treatment every 4-6 weeks and the results last between 3 and 5 months.
The recovery time for micro-needling is a little longer than it is for fillers, but it still shouldn’t stop you from doing anything. The tiny wounds that are created on your face take time to heal, this could be days or weeks depending on your body. You will also see some redness, bruising and swelling, as well as some bleeding and some mild pain, but all of these symptoms should feel better in a couple of days.
Although this procedure is creating open wounds on your skin, the risk of infection is incredibly low, especially if the clinic you use has fully sterilised equipment.
