Age has a massive impact on the face, every area of the face, including the lips. As we age the lips begin to sag and lose volume, they become less defined and the mouth can start to droop at the corners.
The lips are an essential part of facial symmetry and aesthetics, so this ageing can have a big impact. This can impact on your confidence. Fortunately, soft lip fillers can be used to reverse these signs of ageing. These lip fillers are designed to define and create subtle enhancements, or even add a sensuous pout. The results of this are an improved hydration system, natural fullness, symmetry and definition.
What can Lip Fillers be used for?

What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are a type of injectable. They are designed to add volume to the lips, creating a bigger, plumper pout. They can also be used to replace volume loss, improve the shape and definition of the lips and smooth out wrinkles around the mouth area. Lip fillers have an immediate impact, the results are instantly visible.
Lip fillers are not permanent, so they are a fantastic way to change up your appearance, without actually making any long-term changes.
There are lots of different types of lip fillers available. The most popular lip fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid, although others do have other ingredients such as collagen. The Hyaluronic Acid is a carbohydrate, it attracts and binds water, helping to keep the skin hydrated and plump.
Lip Fillers: The Procedure
Before any procedure at The Skin Culturist, you will be given a consultation. In this we will discuss the look you are trying to achieve, your expectations and we will analyse your face, with attention to your lips. We do this to make sure we can achieve the look you are after and so you know what to expect, to help to keep your expectations realistic. Your specialist will then be able to discuss their findings with you and find a suitable solution.
The procedure itself is quick and painless and is performed under a local anaesthetic. Once your lips are numbed from the pain, our specialists will inject the filler into your lips, sculpting the product into the desire shape and size.
The results are immediate. There may be some swelling and bruising and your lips may feel tender, but this will subside in a couple of days.
A follow up appointment is scheduled for two weeks after the procedure and if needed, touch-ups can be made.
How long to lip fillers last?
Lip fillers can last up to 18 months, how long they actually last will depend largely on how much filler was inserted into your lips, where it was inserted and how quickly your body metabolises it.
Do Lip Fillers hurt?
There is some pain if you have lip fillers, however, if you have a local anaesthetic, as you would with The Skin Culturist, this eradicates all pain, making this a simple and pain free procedure.
